Dude, let me tell you, cars are freaking awesome! They're not just a way to get from point A to point B, they're a symbol of freedom, power, and style. They have been fascinating me ever since my dad bought one in 1996. There's much more to me to learn as I've been associated with them for the past decade or so.
Design:
The design of cars is what really got me going in my early teens. I mean, it is just mind-blowing when you really try to understand the art and aesthetics that goes behind designing. I was a design freak for a while, I've tried different 3D applications to alter and modify body work of some phenomenal cars using some concept blue print ideas. My love for design also got me into rendering.
Drive:
But it's not just about how cars look, it's also about how they feel. I've learnt how to drive very late in my life, in my late 20s. I was kind of scared to take the wheel although cars are everything I ever imagined in my entire life. It get's tough when I interact with others especially while I boast about my career at Mercedes-Benz AG. It is somehow sub-consciously linked to my exposure to crash testing, NCAPs and occupant safety. Let's talk about safety.
Safety:
My time to rant, on how important vehicle safety is, and more importantly seat belts. (the hidden agenda behind this post). One of the most critical safety features in a car is the seatbelt, which can reduce the risk of injury in a collision. Airbags are also crucial safety features that can help protect occupants in the event of an accident, but without seatbelts they are useless. Forget about other safety features like electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, blind-spot warning systems, blah blah...for a moment. Indians, buckle-up. Put on your seat belts.....let's start with that. Okay? Moving on.
History:
Lastly, let's not forget about the history of cars. From the classic muscle cars of the 60s to the modern supercars of today, cars have been a symbol of American culture and innovation for generations. Every car has a story, and every owner has a unique relationship with their vehicle. Period.
Engine grunt:
EVs...shush! It's the auditory experience of conventional engines that is deeply connected to the emotions and passion of driving. Although I'm a happy petrol head, the driving range, charging infrastructure, charging times, high cost of EVs, expensive replacement batteries, environmental impact, and battery disposal concerns are all factors that need to be carefully considered when deciding whether to switch to an EV.
In the end, what really fascinates me about cars is how they bring people together, and my memories back. Whether you're a car enthusiast, a collector, or just someone who appreciates a good ride, cars have a way of uniting people around a common passion. It's like a brotherhood (or sisterhood!) of people who share a love for these machines that are so much more than just metal and rubber.
Peace!
